Spinal Decompression Therapy

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy

Vertebral axial decompression therapy is described as an alternative,
noninvasive, nonsurgical procedure of applying axial traction to the DTSbed.jpg
spine. It can be used in the treatment of several conditions, including
low back, and neck pain associated with lumbar disc herniation,
degenerative disc disease, posterior facet syndrome, and radiculopathy.
As the Spinal Decompression table pulls on your spine, it gently separates the vertebrae from each other, creating a vacuum inside the disc that we are targeting.  This vacuum begins to suck the bulges or herniations back into the inside of the disc, and off of your nerve root.  I happens only microscopically
each time, but cumulatively the results are quite dramatic. Also, this pumping action pumps nutrient-rich fluids from the outside of the discs to the inside.  These nutrients enable the torn and degenerated disc fibers to begin to heal back up.  Only a few years ago, it was thought that once a disc was degenerated, there was nothing you could do.  Now we routinely see discs gain one to two millimeters of sustained increased disc height.  While this may not seem like much, it can make all the difference in the world for your nerves.

Is Spinal Decompression for me?

  •  Do you experience neck or low back pain?
  • Do you have pain that radiates into the legs, arms or into the hands?
  • Have you been previously diagnosed with a disc bulge or herniation in the neck or low back?
  • Have the standard treatments of injections and medications not helped?
  • Are you looking for an alternative to surgery?
  • Do you wake up every morning with back stiffness?
  • Do you suffer headaches on a consistent basis?
  • Do you want your symptoms to go away?

Does spinal decompression for all spine related cases?

NO.  But it is effective in high percentages of research cases involving neck and lower back pain including sciatica and radiculopathies.  Very good improvements have been seen in individuals with headaches, and, chronic neck pain sufferers.
